AMiE Update 1

For those interested in the ongoing developments in the Church of England, the Church Times reported on the launch of AMiE here. Fulcrum, the liberal evangelical organisation have commented on it here. I was encouraged by their affirmations. I disagree with their concerns and objections, but no surprise there!

I blogged on the launch of AMiE last week. You can find it here.

Might be worth fleshing out Fulcrum’s possition a bit by reading this:

To call them liberal perks is a bit of a misnomer isn’t it? Would be great to hear why you disagree with their concerns.

from my reading from a couple of blogs there seems to be the following three, four issues:
issue whether this will lead to a break from the church of england
lack of transparency about the ordinations in kenya
On smaller more practical issues :
where will these new clergy work, can they work in an anglican church
whether they will get a license.

Does AiME have a clear plan how to respond to the concerns raised?

Fortunately, these three new clergy probably won’t be able to work in the Church of England. You can’t simply go to another province and ask for ordination because you know your bishop won’t ordain you. If you think that’s ok, then surely it would be ok for a liberal Anglican to go to America and ask for ordination…? It doesn’t make sense. And if you don’t see the point in loyalty to the episcopate and the established Church of England, then why are you bothered about staying?
